San Diego Whole House Music and Video – Sonos adds Apple Music to its services
The music platform Sonos has added another streaming service to its large database. Apple Music, which debuted earlier in 2015, was integrated into Sonos on December 15.
In case you’re not familiar with Apple Music, it claims to have over 30 million songs in its library, which obviously represents a pretty extensive potential playlist for whole house audio and music system users.
According to Macworld, “Apple Music combines subscription-based music streaming with global radio-like programming and a social feature that connects artists to fans…You pay a flat fee to unlock access to Apple Music’s entire catalogue, but you don’t actually own the music you listen to. The files don’t live individually on your devices; you’re instead just listening to tracks stored remotely, that are owned by Apple.” As is the case with other streaming services like Pandora, users can set up their Apple Music to play recommended songs based on their preferences, except they can also incorporate your own iTunes music library along with it.
And in case you’re not familiar with Sonos, it’s a wireless music platform that enables the user to stream music from many on-line services and also from their own digital music collection and play it through their own sound systems. The system is easy to control from a tablet or cell phone. And it’s only one of the products that we at Sound Ideas offer as part of our Whole House Music and Video and Media Rooms services.
It remains to be seen whether artists like Adele and Taylor Swift, who choose not to have their music streamed on music services, will allow Apple Music to stream their music, with their albums sold on iTunes. Apple Music users also have recommended playlists from publications like the Rolling Stone.
